Fanny Burney

Wow, I had not heard this sort of information in regards to Fanny Burney before (I know of her work, of course, and I've read some of it). What was she, other than a novelist I mean, to be appointed in the court. Was she a Lady Burney? (or rather was she from blue stock?) Was she a Lady-in-Waiting?
