In response to comparative cotton yardage costs?, written by Sherry on February 10, 1998 at 14:19:51
Letter # 28 in the LeFaye, l995 edition of the Letters of Jane Austen show a purchase of "figured cambric muslin" at 4/6 per yard, yard and a half wide to make a frock for Edward Austen. This letter was written 30 November, 1 December 1800. Hope this helps.
] Does anyone know the comparative price of a yard of printed cotton 1810 as regards now? ( Just your average everyday wear cotton) Also was it more or less expensive at that time (early 1800's) in the USA as compared to England? If you can direct me to a textile source, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
