By the time of the Regency Period, do you think that the English had gotten some French influence and used perfume at all?
The English and the French have been permanantly attatched since before the Romans invaded. Like Sisters, they sometimes squabble, then make up, borrow each other's fashions, criticise each other's friends, make fun of each other's foibles and stand rock-solid together when an outsider approaches!
Perfume was invented way before the french, and many perfumes were designed as much for their antibiotic and cleansing properties as for the actual smell.
