I re-read the links you gave me. But that is why I feel so stupid for not completely grasping this. I had read them before!
Amy, it's clearer knowing what you get the "points" for and HC, the geneology certainly confirms Darcy had good connections. But is he not an "aristocrat," being only a "gentleman" because his father did not hold a title, even though his mother was the daughter of an earl? To be an aristocrat it had to be direct through the paternal line?
