Thanks for giving me a title which ranks up there with "Mistress of the Tawdry Arts", Amy, but actually I'm not really an expert in corsets -- I'm just always impressed by how awful the Victorian ones were when I see images of the fully clothed figures of the young ladies of that period, and also impressed by the strong contrast between Regency and Victorian.


I'm afraid my attitude towards Victorian corsets is like that of a detached traveler or an old-style pre-"participant-observer" anthropologist, who is observing Chinese footbinding, or tribesmen putting long feathers through their noses -- one is impressed at how horrific it is, and curious in a remote kind of way as to how human beings can actually live that way, but one is not possessed by a burning passionate desire to intimately know all the sordid details (my attitude exactly)...
