Title question

Posted by Peggyn on February 06, 1998 at 12:46:19:

To L and T indexWell, I was just reading a Regency and the first page made me want to throw the book out the window. Joe Blow, Earl of Smith (obviously not the name in the book)was called Lord Blow instead of Lord Smith. The writer came very recommended, so I thought, maybe, even though I thought I knew better, there are cases above Baronet where Lord Surname is as valid as Lord Title? Joe Blow was suppose to be a Scottish peer, so maybe there are exceptions? Or was my first instinct totally correct and I *should* throw that book out the window?
