I had no idea this subject was in such great demand. Here are a few other books of the sea and military:
The Adventures of John Wetherell, edited by C.S. Forester. $11.95 "Shipboard life was never easy but Wetherell describes it all with great humor, revealing himself as a cheerful, straightforward observer with a gift as raconteur. his sense of humor makes this story not only of historical interest but also highly entertaining." This is a diary of a British seaman who was impressed into the Royal Navy to fight the French during the Napoleanic Wars.
An Ensign in the Penisular War, The Letters of John Aitchison, edited by W.F.K. Thompson $12.95 "John Aitchison was present at the most of the major action of the war, both in Spain and Portugal, including the capture of Oporto, the Battle of Basaco, the defense of the Line of Torress Vedras and Vitoria.
