A small, friendly company called Smoke & Fire publishes a newsletter and catalog that may be of some interest to many of Pemberley's readers. The catalog carries clothing patterns, some ready made clothes, and a lot of necessary accoutrement for period re-enacters. The newsletter has interesting articles on 'the way things were' including 'how-to's' on various topics like cooking over a campfire, authentic recipes, &c. The newsletter also has a listing of historical events for re-enactors and other interested persons. This listing covers events in the U.S and parts of Canada. Mos of the events are French and Indian War, War of 1812, and the War of Independence. It covers Jane's time period although not always English. Still, I think those interested in the Regency would find a lot of relevant information. The address: Smoke & Fire
PO Box 166
Grand Rapids, OH
43522
Phone:(419) 832-0303 or 1-800-766-5334. Fax: (419) 832-5008
Subscriptions are $18 for 12 issues. They have many advertisers who also offer a wide variety of historically accurate goods. The catalog may be obtained at the same address or phone numbers as listed above. Their customer service is excellent!
