In response to Pin money?, written by Joyce on January 29, 1998 at 22:10:12
] What is pin money? is it the equivalent of pocket money that the husband gives the wife to spend? Where did the term come from?
The term comes from the middle ages, when pins (for sewing, etc.) were very expensive.
In JA's day, it meant a woman's fixed allowance. Daughters had them as well as wives.
