Date of Trilling's critiques on Forster? Not sure.

Date of Forster's writing : Bloomsbury period (very late Victorian/early Edwardian through 1920's)
A Room with a View published in 1908
Howard's End published in 1910

In other words, Austen was published during the early 1800's, Forster during the early 1900's.

Perhaps fin de siecle (sp?) changes are what the "introductor" meant?
