Dear Anne,
I get the feeling you'd like something with a visual aid?
I know that when we bought our first multi-media computer (which is now my son & daughter's) it came with a multi-media Encyclopedia (Groman's I think.) you may very well have this or something similar. I found a wealth of information there with photos or at least sketches. try that.
I'm not certain about on-line. I think I looked at this before and pretty much found only written information about carriages. Perhaps someone else can help you here.
As far as Books: The Regency Companion goes over this quite well though not with photos. Look in the Pemberley Bibliography here. Perhaps someone else can help you here.
As for Specific Books: I have a book called "Wheels, A Pictorial History" by Edwin Tunis. 1955. (to give you an idea how really old this book is, it is a hardback with $3.95 printed on the inside cover). This is very informative with lots and lots of sketches. You should be able to find it in the library.
I hope that can help you.
Patricia
