I do want to assure you that not all Southern males are like this! My own dear Alabama husband is the gentlest of gentlemen and truly decorous in all his behavior. He treats his mother like a queen, just as his father does. My late father was the same. Best of all, my husband (and all his male relations) are great fans of our dear Jane and love to watch the adaptations anytime the female members of the family make the suggestion!
