] He was grossly exaggerating, of course, as he did have that sort of humor. What he was in escence saying, was that he would review her circumstances in ten years, which was the same as saying never. He did not hold his daughters (except Elizabeth) in very high regard and would probably never make such a trip to London just to take Kitty to a review.

Sorry, I hope I didn't sound all that naive as to give the idea that the irony of Mr.Bennet's remark has totally escaped me. The problem is that it probably was missed by the commentator and he had to think of some other explanation. I just wanted to get an expert POV to be able to support mine. Anyway, thanks a lot for answering! The review info was very helpful and extremely interesting!
