] Patricia, it would be great if some day we could have both equal rights and respect! In JA's day a certain degree of respect for women was the social custom but they didn't have many rights (although they certainly pushed hard enough to try to get them, especially Mary Wollstonecraft) and now, after centuries of struggling, we have some rights, but no respect. I must point out, however, that men do not respect each other now-a-days either.
