Gentle Readers,In that my sweetheart has long been devoted to Miss Austen, it is likely that she would be pleased by a proposal of marriage extended in the prose and style of a gentleman typical of that period and place. For my part, I am sadly unlearned in the ways of Pemberley. Accordingly, I should be most grateful for any illustrations or advice that might be offered to me. In so far as these facts may be relevant, the lady in question is 42 years old and has not yet been married, whereas I am age 41 and have two lovely daughters from a failed prior marriage.
