I'm certain everyone has agreed that, in Caroline's little ditty of past, that the pegtop was a child's toy, the same thing as a spinning top.

But I was just at the bookstore checking out thier bargains and there on the table a "top" book package jumped right up. It included three of these tops, one of them referred to as an old-fashioned pegtop. It was a rounded wooden top with a little metal piece at the bottom, pretty much just like we know them today only the metal piece is not magnetic. Just thought I'd share the information.
