Claire, one of the traditional house designs of Quebec is called a "quebecoise". It looks a litttle like a "Cape Cod", and has a steeply pitched roof with turned- up ends, so if you slid down from the ridge-pole, you'd fly up in the air, like on a ski-run! It's a development of the farmhouses of northern France, adapted to the Quebec climate. To build one in Florida would be lunacy!( Anyway, with global warming upon us, Quebec is going to be the next tropical paradise, didn't you know? ;-)
