In response to Tilde's photo of a woman's dress, written by JennieC on December 22, 1997 at 18:16:16
] Young woman's dress. Belonged to Christiane Frederikke Holm, born 1799, which means that this dress is probably in the mid- to late 1810's. Described as "Goldenbrown dress, cotton with coloured print" Museum-number 897/1990.
] Tilde sent me several photos from the Danish museum to post and share. Lovely! Thanks, Tilde.
Except for the length, and perhaps the frill on the bodice, this dress does not look too dissimilar from some of the dresses I have seen for sale at our local shopping mall...the empire waist, A-line look appears to be just the thing for the fashion conscious woman of 1997....just about 200 years later! Nice photo, Tilde...thanks for sharing
