In response to Fashion Exhibit - Philadelphia Museum of Art, written by Dave on December 20, 1997 at 13:33:43
] This exhibit has actually been on since October 21, but I haven't seen any posts about it, so here goes:
] Best Dressed: 250 Years of Style
] Philadelphia Museum of Art
] October 21, 1997 - January 4, 1997
] Most of the exhibit was 20th century, and some Victorian stuff, but there were a few items I'm sure would be of interest to folks here at Pemberley. In particular, there was an eveningish sort of gown listed in the exhibit notes as "Embroidered Cream Dress, c. 1805-10, Made in England, Silk with silk embroidery". The exhibit was set up such that I could step really close to examine the detail of the embroidery at the gown. Unfortunately, they would not allow photography, even without flash, which vexed me greatly.
] The exhibit is free with the general museum admission.
