] What "bugs" me is..what time did folks actually get up in the morning? I assume by the time of breakfast, that it was relatively late according to our standards?

Lou, I really have to apologize because I can't remember the source, however I do remember being surprised when I read people did alot more before breadfast than I would certainly choose to do. Some examples were taking walks, attending divine services, writing letters.

Unfortunately, I don't think the arisal time was suggested. But if you think about the time to dress, have your hair done and still have time for some activity before 9 or 10 o'clock, then I would think they would have risen by at least 7 am. What do you think? EL
