Cucumber sandwichs

] I don't know a lot about cucumber sandwiches, but I think, like watercress sandwiches, they're consider a dainty thing, ladies tea, that kind of connotation. I became quite possessed with the idea of them when reading Possession, the mention of them became kind of a euphemism for being invited to a character's house. So not really knowing how to go about a proper one, I experimented. The version I liked best was with mayonaise on white with crumbled hardboiled egg yolks and a little fresh spinach.

Well, I like them with mayonaise and whole-wheat bread. They are really yummy. But certainly not for tea-time! (I rather have a regular ham and cheese or tosts!)

BTW what are watercress sandwichs
