I subscribe to the Historical Costume list and there's been a lot of talk about early Regency costuming in the past weeks. I was interested to learn how many people have actual garments from the period (or museums have in their collections) that are anything but the white and cream tones I tend to associate with the period.

Great info! Thanks for sharing. In the Victoria and Albert museum in London I enjoyed viewing several colorful Regency gowns, spencers, etc. One was a silk gown of shocking pink more reminiscent of the 1930s "Schiaperelli" pink. Another was a bright yellow organdy with small cinammon brown flowers all over. Of course, white is always appropriate, too. Spencers can be created in just about any color you can come up with. My favorites are the cornflower blue and dark crimson ones I've seen at V&A.
