Just spotted a book

Sorry to duplicate this if anyone has beaten me to it...
I was walking past a rack of history books in our university bookshop and saw this very interesting-looking tome: John Brewer, The pleasures of the imagination : English culture in the eighteenth century, published (UK) by HarperCollins,
1997, ISBN 002555379 (all this extremely accurate information from my library catalogue).
It looks fascinating, though I didn't get to study it in detail - basically, a cultural history of the period from the Restoration (1680's) through the C18th: in other words, how Jane Austen's world got to be the way it was (eg. the development of the respectability of novel- reading and writing). Very thick and thorough, and it cost about £20-00 for the paperback.
As I say, I haven't read or even browsed it properly, but I doubt I would have the time to do so. Definitely worth a look, and seems done to a high academic standard of accuracy.
