If I am not completely off-base on this one, I believe in the first chapter, if not the first line, it states that she is rich -- Not that she is in a rich family, but that she, herself is rich.
I think the short answer is she has the money. Of course the hubby will get it when she marries, depending upon the settlement. But while she's single, she have control over it.
I believe it is similar to Lady Catherine and her daughter Anne in P&P.
I hope this is correct.
