Isn't it funny how all these fashion books totally neglect shoes? Yet they were worn and were as important as dresses! You are so right, Tilde...I am sure the shoes were a definite asset in dancing!
The Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto has a collection that Imelda Marcos would die for- shoes of all ages, purposes and personalities. They have several pairs of shoes of the period- silk dancing slippers, beaded ditto, roller-printed soft leather ones, plus some of those men's Top-boots!
There is a book published of pictures of the Museum's exhibits, in exquisite colour and detail, and one day, when I have a scanner.....
Meanwhile, I'll see if I can find the book again, and post up the info.
That knitted dress sounds most intriguing . Could you remember any more about it?
