] You don't say whether the house you are considering was built in the 18th century or earlier,whether it is a town-house or a country estate,whether it is in England or elsewhere,and which part of England,what architectural style was used, or even what size of establishment it is.


I know that some of the old American estates actually have the kitchen in a seperate building from the rest of the house, because of the fire hazard involved. I can imagine the servants rushing back and forth with the dishes.
