1883 Diary on Corseting

I make a variety of historical costumes for theatre and need to get better versed on corset construction, so I've been doing web research. I've noticed many postings on dress, corsets, posture, and comportment at Pemberley so I thought this might be of interest.
A modern woman has translated sections of her French grandmother's diary from 1883 which give us vivid detail on being corseted to fashion standards. This is fascinating stuff, but not for the weak of spine.
The stays of 1810 were looser (or worn looser) but there's a mind-set here which no doubt reflects the use and wearing of corsets in all eras.
