In response to price of silk/yd in 1816, written by Marie Bernadette on November 12, 1997 at 14:46:26
There are several posts on this page dealing with foods, and you can find more information in our Bibliography and in the Archives.
I'm not sure why you have picked Amherstburg...perhaps we could be of more help if we knew a little more about you, your story, and exactly what you need? For example, I know of several Canadian History Websites which you might find useful, but some of them are only accessible if you are a legitimate Canadian student and/or educator, and you need to ask for a password before you can use them.
The price of silk in England varied greatly according to type and quality, and wasn't always sold by the yard.I'm not sure what the price difference would be in Canada( by which route are you bringing it in? Via Montreal and the St Lawrence? from the South via the Old Quebec Road?)
Also, please remember that this is a discussion board, part of the Republic of Pemberley. We are not really set up as a research facility, and any information here comes without a guarantee.
