We're discussing Northanger Abbey over at VirtView and of course, the subject of the bath scene is promoting much conversation and consternation. I recall discussing the trays before and am I remembering correctly that they held personal items, refreshments, scents, etc to keep them dry and yet available, yes?
But I don't recall ever discussing the group bathing. Would the sexes have bathed together as they are shown in the film? Anyone know anything about the customs of the Roman Baths in JA's time?
