wedding receptions

I have read that weddings in the Regency tended to be simple. Were there receptions a la "Four Weddings and a Funeral"?

In Emma 2 there was what appeared to be a reception for Mr. and Mrs. Weston but in Emma 3 they seemed to ride off into the sunset as did Mr. and Mrs. Rushworth and Julia in the Mansfield Park video.

What was the custom? If the bridal couple did not attend a reception did they go home to Netherfield or Pemberly or perhaps to an inn?
