Hi,I am posting this because I would like to prove
to my brother who has no class or taste that he knows
not of what he speaks.First: he calls Jane Austen'a novels
penny dreadfuls which I know is wrong because that is a
Victorian term.Second:I truly do not think he even knows
what a penny dreadful was or is.My question is how much
did one pay for a novel of two or three volumes such as
they were published? How much would be in late twentieth
century English money and what would that be in late twen-
tieth century American money?
