Finally found an author willing to venture an exact conversion of Regency money to recent money.(snip)...So a Regency pound would be worth about twelve pounds in this calulation.
Cassia, the conversion rate of 12 to 1 has been bandied about a lot, but no-one who has ever mentioned it manged to explain how it came about . Does Hibbert explain this?
