In the film the Bennet women pick flowers in their garden. What else would they do? Would they plant flowers or even vegetables themselves, or was this done by servants? I could imagine Lizzy enjoying digging in the garden but was it considered improper?
What kind of vegetables or other plants would they grow themselves, and would they sell them or eat all? I think they must have known quite a lot about these things, anyway, especially those who had large lands, like Mr Knightley. Landed gentry, I believe, had much of their food from their own fields.
