More on titles of the peerage

Hi, I'm recently a newcomer to this site (the Jane info page is great, thanks for putting it all together!), and I was browsing the postings when I came across a posting by Elaine L. about titles of the peerage. I'm doing a big project on Regency costume and its social background, and one of the books I'm reading has a whole lot of info about titles, including who ranked above whom and various things like how to address a peer's children (there's actually different titles of address for the first son and the second, it's really interesting--and mindboggling to think of how everyone was able to keep track of who was Baron this, and the Honorable that, and so on). The name of the book is "What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew" by Daniel Pool (check pp. 33-44 for titles). I have a list of some other really great books, including a costume book on the whole 19th century with some really great info and illustrations on the Regency period (the book is "English Women's Clothing in the Nineteenth Century" by C. Willett Cunningham). Thanks for creating this site! It's been interesting to read what people have to say (and the info is also great for my project!).
