] What is "the hanging of a curricle?" I know what a curricle is. What is its hanging? I am guessing it is probably one of the following three items:
]

  1. Its trappings.
    ]
  2. The way it is harnessed to the horse or horses.
    ]
  3. The way it is stored. Since a curricle is little more than a two-wheel cart, it can probably be stored by "hanging".
    ]

] Does anybody have a definitive answer?

Mark,
I always thought that refered to where the body of the curricle was positioned over the axles. ie, that it was "hanging" high over the wheels. I do know that a "high" curricle is positioned up higher and more forward then other curricles. They were considered a "sportier" and faster model- kind of like a Corvette would be these days. Willoughby would drive a "high" curricle- Brandon never!
