In response to Navy and ships, written by Anne on October 13, 1997 at 07:14:05

Anne, it's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend and I'm swamped with relatives (I'd far rather be in Pemberley). In the Links page attatched at the top of this board, you'll find Ed Allen's Warships page, with links to all kinds of things relevant to your question. You could also look up Maritime History in Yahoo- there's lots and lots of stuff out there.
There's also the Lavery book in the bibliography, and I have a pile of stuff on Naval ranks that I'll try to get up in a few days.(Lord Nelson and the Victory have a special place in my heart, and I could get very boring about this.)

Meanwhile, if anyone else can answer this, please do not wait for me!
