The time preceding this I thought was known as Georgian. P&P was written, I read, in the last decade of the 18th century, though it wasn't published until the Regency period. So, I am wondering why it is all referred to as regency, even loosely?
But it was rewritten later, before it was published. Some people believe that the original First Impressions was, like Lady Susan, a novel of letters. This would mean that the later rewrite was extensive.
