I know that "Gentlemen's Clubs" are legendary, but I'm finding it hard to find any historical refences to them for the Regency Period.(I'm not suggesting that they did not exist, only that history seems to be a bit thin here.)Does anyone know of any?
Also, in all honesty, could one say that Mr Darcy spent much time in his "club"? He spends over half his life in Derbyshire, and much of the rest of the time visiting with his friends, or answering summonses from his Lady Catherine.
Like Mr Bennet, he seems to avoid "Town" as much as possible, and only ventures there to distract Bingley and to find Lydia.
