That's what I was wondering. I suppose the wealthier would have access to better treatment, but if there just wasn't much a "dentist" (is that what they were called, not barbers?) could do, well then? So, I suppose after 10 to 15 years or so we possibly wouldn't want to see Mr. Darcy smiling at us. What a shame.
