I don't read every message here like Caroline does, as the board's host, so I wasn't aware there had been a one-way information street. It really isn't fair, though, to use the place as an easy research source and not give anything back.
Caroline really does a lot of digging to find interesting links and things for this board. If she's like me, she does it because she loves the subject and doesn't need a lot of effusive thanks (those outpourings, while gratifying, always embarrass the heck out of me, anyway, so don't do it on my account). But, every once in a while, only just occasionally, I do feel the need to remind people that this place is not some sort of enterprise from which you can expect "customer service." We do things as we have the time and inclination just because we want to, and because we get something ourselves from the community experience. When we get demands from homework slackers for "answers right now --by email, and in Word 7.0 format" or this sort of thing that just feels onesided, it makes us feel used.
Elaine, if you are writing a novel and are collecting good stuff about the period, surely you've seen questions here that you have some answers for, or opinions about. We'd love to hear them.
