] I was wondering, when exactly was 'Regency", and found an interesting page: here is a link to a page with a pre-Regency and Regency chronology. It is part of the meanderings of Regency page.
I had thought the Regency was from 1811 - 1820. That time that Geo III was incapable of governing, and his son, the future Geo IV, reign in his stead. The time preceding this I thought was known as Georgian. P&P was written, I read, in the last decade of the 18th century, though it wasn't published until the Regency period. So, I am wondering why it is all referred to as regency, even loosely?
