] ] JA commented very little about George and Caroline, except to say, once, that the Princess of Wales had been treated abominably by her husband.

] I think that the specific occasion was when the Prince tried to convict his wife of adultery, while he himself was having an open adulterous affair.

I think the quote you're talking about, Caroline, is in a letter to Martha Lloyd: "I suppose all the World is sitting in Judgement upon the Princess of Wales...Poor woman, I shall support her as long as I can, because she is a Woman, and because I hate her husband...but if I must give up the Princess, I am resolved at least always to think that she would have been respectable, if the Prince had only behaved tolerably by her at first."
