They probably would have gone up to Cambridge a little younger than nowadays - maybe 15 or 16. I think it most unlikely that Wickham and Darcy would have shared quarters - it wouls not have been done for D to share a room with the son of his father's steward. Perhaps Wickham used Darcy's (larger and better located) room for assignations! ;-)
