] Looking through a book called "British Television: Your Guide to Over 1100 Favourite Programmes" I found the following information about previous BBC adaptations of P&P.
] 1952: starring Daphne Slater and Peter Cushing
] 1958: starring Jane Downs and Alan Badel
] 1967: starring Celia Bannerman and Lewis Fiander
] These were listed under the P&P2 entry (along with the 1980 version w/ Elizabeth Garvie and David Rintoul) as the previous versions of P&P.
I read somewhere that Susannah Harker's mother played Jane in an earlier version of P&P--maybe the 1967 version.
