I have one minor quibble with the scene just before they go for a walk. Was everyone taken by surprise by their entrance? If so, how did they get to Longbourn? During the walk they both carry walking sticks, so they couldn't have ridden over, and a carriage would surely have been heard?

Laura, I am interested in watching MAURICE. I loved the book and have wanted to watch the movie, so here's the perfect excuse. I just have to make sure my local blockbuster carries it. The cover on my paperback version shows a young Hugh Grant on horseback.

For some reason the actual question I posted did not show up. Actually, it's nothing lewd, but just a question about the gentlemen's attire. Ever since I first watched PP2, I noticed that most of the men had a ribbon attached to their waistbands of their pants that hung down about 4" with a charm/fob on the end. Is this attached to a watch, family crest charm or just a type personal decoration? I know this is insignificant, but it has been nagging. Thanks for your patience from Louise - who joins the ever-swelling ranks of 43 year-olds.

Ab Fab is essentially about a very dysfunctional family. -- Candace, Kali have either of you watched it ? -- Edina (Jennifer Saunders) is a completely crazy mother who thinks that her teenage daughter Saffron (Julia Sawahla) is weird because she is very staid and sensible (ie. doesn't dress fashionably, drink or smoke, have a boyfriend etc.). In other words Saffie is the mother figure and Eddie the rebellious teenager. In addition Eddie's best friend Patsy (Joanna Lumley), who smokes and drinks (especially Vodka and Champagne), is a social pariah -- though of course Eddie doesn't see this. Saffie and Patsy share a mutual enmity. In a nutshell Eddie is always getting into scrapes, while all the while maintaining that all she wants is to help Saffie "get a life".

If it does come your way, do watch it. I'm in stiches every time I see an episode.

By the way, I think that Patricia Routledge as Hyacinth Bucket is also very funny. You just have to feel sorry for her long suffering husband Richard.

I think I better stop there before Amy ticks me off for WOBBING.

How much was 10,000 pounds in the day of P&P compared to today? Does anyone know? I know that that amount was considered a fourtune in itself, but Darcy got that amount every year. He must have been VERY rich!
