Thank god I'm not alone. I surprised myself preferring singing parts of this soundtrack to the radio/tape. Quite unusual for me. My three year old daughter wondered why there is no more music in the car (except for the likes of Akuna Matata)! Was actually wondering THIS MORNING whether there was a tape. Going to get the CD TODAY. And when I learned P&P2 begins playing tomorrow morning on AE, yesterday,I ran to subscribe to this channel so I would'nt miss anything. Upon subscribing, I notice the The Movie Network 1 will air Persuasion in mid-november.

Kindred spirits well appriciated

: : : I was eating lunch yesterday at Au Bon Pain, a fast food sandwich place, when I suddenly felt very tranquil, despite the fact that my 2-year old lunch companion is not especially genteel. Then it hit me---on the piped-in music, Voi Che Sapete was playing---the song Lizzie sings at Pemberley. The Look! Sigh. I felt momentarily transported. I wish I'd had some BB friends there to share the moment---and I suspect you would all have been less likely than my little girl to spill chili on me. Coincidence, or is everyone taking advantage of Austen-mania? If so: more, please.

I'm a bit confused by all the reference to the music to P&P2.
Is there a sound track? If so can any of you tell me the name?
If there is no sound track can you recommend one with at least
some of the music I've heard on P&P?

thanks for your help

: : Also, there's the fact that even while you may love your family members, you don't choose them, and often you don't mesh perfectly with them. I guess finding the right mate is a way to compensate for a misfit family, but, unfortunately, most people in Austen's day and many today don't find that that's the case.

___________________

I'm not the expert on dysfunctional families, but right now I am writing my senior scholar paper on the families of Jane Austen's novels in general and what types of parenting styles they have. I think that Mr. Bennet's parenting style is permissive-indifferent (he lets the girls do what they want but has no active part in their lives at all), and Mrs. Bennet is permissive-indulgent (she lets the girls do what they want but insists in meddling constantly). Mrs. Bennet is the one constantly worried about what will happen to her five daughters if they are not married by the time Mr. Bennet dies. Mr. Bennet does not place as much emphasis on what happens to the girls and takes little interests in their activities.
Plus, the Bennets are guilty of playing favorites. Mr. Bennet clearly favors Elizabeth, and her life is the only one that he really has interest in because Elizabeth "has a bit more quickness than the rest." Meanwhile, Mrs. Bennet clearly favors Lydia because Lydia is the most like her. Neither one of them cares for Mary, Kitty is lead by Lydia and therefore is probably next in Mrs. Bennet's affection, and Jane is considered by her father to be a sensible girl, but not singled out as Elizabeth is by him.

Has anyone read Jane Smiley's "A Thousand Acres"? I read it last year in an English class. Anyway, the reason that I ask is because I read in an article somewhere that Colin Firth was going to be playing a part in the film, but I just can't quite picture the character he's supposed to be playing (named Jess). I mean, I know who the character is in the book, but I don't see him playing the part! (This is not to say that I don't think he will do a fantastic job. I'm just saying that he isn't who I visualized as the character when I read the book.) If anyone else has read the book, write back and let me know what you think.

The price is $14.59 + $1.95 shipping/handling. When I submitted my order, I received an email message back saying it would be between 7-10 days until I receive it (I can't wait!!).

Hope this helps!
