Just a note. Alan Rickman and Greta Sccaci were nominated for Best Actor and best supporting actress in a mini-series or special for their roles in the HBO movie Rasputin as the title character and the Empress Alexandra. I hope that clears some things up.

Janey gives words to my feelings
>...but zeroes in on Annešs sense of loss and regret, at first painfully but ultimately with redemption .

That's it, Janey. Thank you. Who can resist a story that teaches "There's always still hope."

Sarah and I were talking about greens then she brought up Darcy dressing for his ride to the inn:
>>: Remember how particular Mr. Darcy is when he is dressing to go to see Lizzie at the Inn "No, the green one" for his coat or vest - i can't remember which -
"No. The green one. No, no, no. Never mind that," Darcy instructs the servant. Then he rides like the wind.
It's these two behaviors -- being short with a servant and tearing off on a horse -- are what make us think Darcy is on his way to propose to Lizzy. Then Bingley does the same thing! Once resolved on proposing to Jane, he orders his horse sharply then peels out.
["I just love it when guys peel out." What movie is that from?]

Did he also ooze charm from every pour? And hwen at last the dance was done, did he glower as if he knew he'd won? And with a voice too eager and a smile too broad, did he announce to the hostess that she was a fraud?

All of your tender regard for Persuasion was just what I was hoping to solicit. I will be sharing all of your input with my friend who has also found a new appreciation for the movie.
Anyone else caring to share please still do so.

>>: How about on Saturday night, that way when I go to mom's for laundry and free food I can hop on her computer and we can discuss.
You will forgive me if I jumped the gun as I am actually going out tonight to a real movie. (Cold Comfort Farm)
Already found a couple of parallels between ARWAV and P&P2:
A line:
"Come away from the window, dear."
And a situation:
Mr Bebe is like Charlotte, showing up just as the household is all in uproar over Lucy's showing Cecil the road.
The above cannot possibly be a spoiler for a person in the middle of the film. Would anybody really believe Lucy ends up with that guy? I wonder that she ever becomes attached to him in the first place.

Not the one I was thinking of.

Thanks for the rek. It's one of those boxes studied many times in the video store and replaced with a "sometime; not this time."

Newbee asked:
>>Could someone tell me the name of the song, you know the famous one, you hear it all the time on TV commercials. Is it in Tosca by Puccini (sp?)?
O mio babbino caro

Link to wave file below. I can't say if it's any good. With my slow modem, I lost patience waiting for it to download. It's 2.5 Mb

I want to save all the bios so please spare them from the cleanup for another day or so. I know the postings are so frequent now that they can't be up for long.
I am glad however to see the Charlotte the Psychic thread and relations off of the board. That one nearly went off the screen there was so many followups!

I captured all the bios yesterday, just in case I got carried away. I thought maybe I'd make a table out of them and put in the FAQ.

Funny you should mention that. It was bugging me a lot and may have been the motivation for hurrying up the deletions. We have actually slowed down in terms of number of posts over the past couple of days, so maybe I will start leaving up 8-9 days worth if the main page doesn't get too long.
Hits are up again -- to 1,157 this week from 997 last week, and 426 the week before. My guess is the hits may be accounted for by three groups: one-time curiosity seekers; lurkers; and a few posters who compulsively check throughout the day. Only guesses as I don't think it's nice to track who comes here. I only know you've been here if you post.

Just came home from Cold Comfort Farm. Worth seeing. I wouldn't say it's Jane Austen meets Monty Python, as I had read. More like Christy meets Silas Marner meets James and the Giant Peach.
Kate Beckinsale is going to make a wonderful Emma. I can't wait.

Do you know how your counter works? I've noticed on pages having visible counters that they seem to add to the tally even if you re-load, so people re-loading here to make sure that their own posts got recorded - or to "read" them to change the color to the "already seen" color - could be adding to the hit count without really being a separate person arriving.

Yes. That's how this works. Each time your browser has the patience to load the little red graphic at the bottom of the main page that says "WA," linking to a script at wishing.com, it's a hit. But at least it is not the type that counts every seperate graphic on the page as a hit.
We are somewhere in that vast middle land of web sites betwwen pages you see that say,"67 people have been here since last Christmas" and sites that get thousands of hits a day. Cume hits are around 4,400 since the beginning of August.

Are we ready to start? Maybe to ease into it, we could first tell about our experience with the film: saw it before? read the book? read any Forster?

I watched it all again last week (IMAGINE!!) with my sister and again enjoyed the scene with Lizzie and Lady C in the "prettish little park" - I forget how much fun this scene is to watch. I wish i could be such a quick thinker in an intense verbal exchange! To me, it shows AGAIN how strong Lizzie is - she is not to be intimidated! Or maybe she is intimidated, but she can handle it without losing her grace. I always wonder how much Lady C subconsciously really does like Miss Bennett - remember how she seeks Lizzie to stay at Rosings for another month complete and offers to take her to London - and is "quite put out" when SHE is refused. I suppose she is hardly ever refused anything. I like the irony in this - someone she herself chooses to single out as a "special" person turns out to also be the "special" choice of her dear nephew!! I also saw the scene i thought was in error again - with Lizzie reading Lydia's letter - i was TOTALLY backward!! I swear as many times as I have watched that scene, i thought it started in the bedroom - I guess when you are obsessed, things are not always very clear, no matter how often you see them!!!

You know what I admire about this scene and a few others? It teaches me to be quiet -- the value sometimes of not saying anything. Like when Lady C is about to board the carriage and asks Lizzy "And this is your final resolve?"
Lizzy just raises her chin.
