I have not responded because I felt the same way and I sometimes have trouble expressing myself when I feel very strongly.

I waited because I knew that someone would express my opinion much more eloquently than I could and you have done so. Thank you, again.

I wonder if those who dislike Fanny so much all have out-going and volatile personalities. I do not and have no trouble understanding why Fanny is so passive.

As for Henry, he is just a charming and unprincipled rake. He cares only for keeping his own ego inflated. IMHO, he is the type who, after winning Fanny, would need another and another and another ... woman to fall in love with him. Also, his elopement with Maria is NOT out of character; he needed to know that she was still in under his spell.
