] I am curious, though, as to whether anyone agrees with me. Are there any other "Bertramites" (for lack of a better term) out there, or am I alone?

Thanks for giving our group a name, Michelle. I too agree that your argument was very well said and you brought out very valid points. I also felt I was sort of alone in my opinion of Fanny and Edmund, with all the Crawfordism around here. I do know that I wasn't once charmed by the Crawfords and always saw them for what they were. And really, if I did know someone like that, I wouldn't be charmed by them at all. They would be the ones I'd avoid at all cost. They take advantage of people and don't care what happens to them afterwards. I guess that's why Edmund and Fanny are so appealing to me, because what they know to be right is very important to them and they try very hard not to disobey that. I think that what Michelle said about why Edmund fell head-over-heels for Miss Crawford was exactly right. He's just the sort of person to idealize like that. And three cheers for Fanny and her indestructible will power! Well, I'd better not blabber anymore. I hope to see more Bertamites here!
