I almost died laughing when you (Julia) mentioned that Edmund's and Fanny's children would be pale. I can just see a bunch of little pale, sickly, and INBRED Edmunds running around arguing about which style of literature is their favorite and why so-and-so didn't like them. A bunch of whiners.
I laughed so hard (Marsha) when you said that JA was disgusted with romance. Come to think of it P&P was the only ending that I actually found satisfying. She works these elaborate plots and then in one sentence she says "...And he pledged his love and devotion and they married in spring"
I mean come on. Well, I couldn't blame her because she really had no experience. She never married, and I think it is quite possible that she did find it replusive....
It is kind of like Gone With The Wind, because I remember saying to myself...."Geez what does she see in that wimpy Ashley!!" Scarlet had a real man all along in Rhett.
I'd like to read that after marriage version sometime, but I have tons of homework. It's only the first day too!! :-)
